October events to note

October is going by fast and despite the rain, a good day on Saturday Oct. 2 gave those who looked forward to the Ohio  Swiss Festival a chance to get out and see what this year had to offer. Thanks goes out to all the entertainers, visitors, village employees and planners who continue to work to make the  festival a success year after year.

Meanwhile, we have a number of important dates and items going on yet this month and I want to make a note of them here:

  • Flushing of Fire Hydrants October 25 to October 29 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Residents should run their water until it become clear, as hydrant flushing sometimes affects residential water.
  • Leaf Pickup beings Monday October 19 at 7 a.m. Residents are encouraged to have their leaves and debris by the curb at that time.  It will continue every Monday until  our street superintendent, Matt Miller, deems that it  is no longer necessary and all of the leaves are down.
  • October 24 is the Fire Department’s Soup & Salad Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the fire station. Get out and support a good cause. They do a lot  for our community.
  • Halloween will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 31 with community Halloween held at Miller Ave. at 3 p.m.

I hope all of you have a safe and happy Halloween. If you have any questions, contact us at village hall or send me an e-mail.
