When did the Ohio Swiss Festival start?

The Festival started in 1953.

Who sponsors the Ohio Swiss Festival?

It is a joint effort of the Ohio Swiss Cheese Association, The Sugarcreek Business Association, and the Village of Sugarcreek

When is the Festival held each year?

The fourth weekend after labor day.

Do local church and civic groups participate?

Over 20 local organizations participate. Many have specialty food booths such as Fry pies, apple fritters, home made soups and sandwiches, Swiss cheese, Trail Bologna, and barbeque meats. Others host luncheons, Park cars, and run events.

What time does the Festival start each day?

Wednesday and Thursday evening is 6PM

Friday starts at 11.30 AM with Posting of Colors, Saturday starts at 8:45AM with Posting of Colors.

Is there plenty of parking?

There are numerous well marked lots surrounding the downtown area. Bus Parking is available.The parking is a opportunity for many local organizations to raise money for there projects.

Is there handicap parking and transportation available to down town?

Handicap parking is available on Factory Street near Post Office. Transportation to downtown is available by asking the parking personnel.

Are there plenty of restrooms?

In addition to the two permanent restrooms behind the fire station and library. There are 36 portable restrooms.

Are their activities for children?

In addition to the many rides and vendor contests, there is a kiddies Parade, little Swiss Miss Processional and Crowning, Big Wheel Race for local children, and Petal Tractor pull.

Are there activities for adults to participate?

In addition to dancing to Polka music, there is a Men and Woman’s cheese eating contest, award winning cheese auction, Steintossen, 5K and 1 mile run/walk, Yodeling contest, and Swiss costume contest.

When are the Parades?

Wednesday – Little Swiss Miss Processional 7 pm

Friday – Kiddies Parade 2 pm, Queens Parade 10 pm

Saturday – Antique Car Parade 1:45 pm, Main Parade 2 pm

Can I sample and buy cheese directly from the cheese makers?

Yes, the cheese makers are in the fire station

Does the Festival serve alcohol?

There is a wine tasting-only tent featuring local, award-winning wines and cheese. Full bottles and blocks of cheese are available for purchase once you’ve found your favorite.

What are the ride rates?

Wednesday & Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. – $10
Friday & Saturday All-Day Pass  -  $15
